 Bridgend Writing Squads

Bridgend Youth Writing Squad aimed at people aged 12 – 18 is organised by Bridgend County Borough Council’s Arts & Culture Service in conjunction with Academi. A brand new Welsh language Squad met for the first time in September.

Recent Activities:

Summer 2009:  The Bridgend English Squad recently wrote a dramatic play with author Katherine Chandler, a stage and screen scriptwriter. The Squad’s work was developed into a theatrical performance and performed by Bridgend Youth Theatre in the summer of 2009.

September 2009:  Participation in event at the Senedd with National Poet Gillian Clarke, Robert Minhinnick and Ceri Wyn Jones to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the National Assembly.

April 2010: Workshop with Tom Anderson, creating pieces of travel writing in response to the Artes Mundi 4 exhibition at Cardiff National Museum.
