EXAMPLES OF WORK - CEREDIGION

A brand new English squad in Ceredigion had a very special workshop on 10 July, 2011 with the author Rob Lewis.

Laura, one of the new Squad's members has written a report on her day:

At the beginning of the summer, “The Writing Squad” or in Welsh, “Sgwad 'Sgwennu” began. We had a teacher with us called Teresa and a children’s author called Mr Rob Lewis.

We were told a “Shaggy Dog” story (a long story with a silly ending), about a man finding a hidden door, going through it, getting through obstacles, touching a gorilla in a cage, the gorilla coming after him, running back through the obstacles, back through the hidden door and when the gorilla corners him, he thinks he’s going to eat him, but he was just playing tag.

We were asked to write our own “Shaggy Dog” story out through the summer, and I was inspired by Rob’s own story and was relieved when the gorilla did not eat him.

Overall, it was a fairly good day.
